Donald Rubinstein's soundtrack to George Romero's "MARTIN" is one of the best (and most listenable) horror film scores I've ever heard. Spooky-jazz mixed with a strange-old-world-ambience makes for a fantastic album in any genre!

Phantom of the Paradise and Rocky Horror soundtracks are essential for having been written by "proper" musicians. Listen past the camp lyrics and sentiment to reach just excellent songwriting. Contrast with (say) The Monster Club, an example of how not to soundtrack a horror film with pop / rock music!!

The Wickerman soundtrack stands up on it's own - well the Paul Giovanni / Magnet songs do. Folk music and pagan ritual, a fine mix to scare the hell into you. Names were changed to protect the guilty, even bottoms were changed in the marvellous video they made to accompany 'Willow's Song'. Remember, Summer is Icumen In.
