To celebrate the 40th anniversary of their British psychedelic classic, Odessey & Oracle (1968), The Zombies will play the album in its entirety across three nights at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire. Original members Colin Blunstone, Rod Argent, Chris White and Hugh Grundy will reunite and play the record live from start to finish.
Odessey And Oracle was recorded at Abbey Road studios in the hazy summer of 1967 for a meagre £200. Geoff Emerick, The Beatles' chief engineer, was in process of returning to earth after the Sgt Pepper sessions. The arrival of The Zombies and their grand visions of a perfumed, psychedelic opus sent Emerick straight back into the stratosphere. Not that anyone else seemed to notice - when released in April 1968, Odessey And Oracle only managed to float to number 95 in the UK charts.
Paul Atkinson, the band's founding guitarist, sadly passed away in
2004. The Zombies touring group member Keith Airey, will take on extra
six-string duties. Here are the full details:
