Not content with producing Uncle Earl’s latest album, Waterloo, Tennessee, Led Zeppelin multi-instrumentalist John Paul Jones has also appeared in the new video by the American all-girl Old Time four-piece. Directed by the G’Earls long-time friend Tom Krueger (who has previously worked with Dylan, Springsteen and U2), the video accompanies Streak O’Lean, Streak O’Fat, which is sung in Chinese!
Inspired by the band’s unlikely marriage of Mandarin lyrics to their trademarked downhome rootsy sound, Krueger shot the video in a Chinese restaurant and features what can only be described as a Kill Bill-styled clog-dancing battle. Check out the full video here….
Meanwhile Uncle Earl’s Rayna Gellert and Kristin Andreassen join MOJO’s editor-in-chief Phil Alexander on MOJO Rocks on MOJO Radio tonight at 9.00pm. MOJO Radio is available in the UK on Sky (channel 0182), Freeview (channel 721) and via the radio player on this site.
To win one of 5 copies of Uncle Earl’s latest album simply answer the following question correctly:
Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones produced Uncle Earl’s Waterloo, Tennessee, but which one of these other artists has he also previously produced?
a) The Butthole Surfers
b) Alison Krauss
c) The Black Crowes
Send us your answer, your name and your address to studio@mojo4music.com and place Uncle Earl in the subject line. Competition closes first thing December 3, 2007.
