As the Sex Pistols famously remarked, most reformations are designed to generate “filthy lucre”. Apart from Bauhaus’s it seems.
The pioneering reformed Goth combo are set to release a new album next year to coincide with the band’s thirtieth anniversary and yet, contrary to popular revenant rock star behaviour, the band are steadfastly refusing to cash in on its release.
Rather than heralding their return, the four-piece of Peter Murphy (vocals), Daniel Ash (guitar), Daniel J (bass) and Kevin Haskins (drums) won't be using the album as an excuse to tour. Rather, the album, entitled Entitled Go Away White, will be the band's "final sonourous statement".
As well as this non-confirmist behaviour, Go Away White has also been recorded in the most unorthodox manner - the 10 tracks included on the album consisting largely of first takes laid down by the quartet during an 18 day period at Zircon Skye Studios in Ojai, California earlier this year.
Go Away White is out on the Cooking Vinyl label on March 10, 2008.
