Despite the endless conjecture that swirled around them in the wake of their reformation appearance at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert at London’s 02 Arena on December 10 2007, the individual members of Led Zeppelin have maintained a stony silence as far as their future plans are concerned.
This weekend, however, Jimmy Page found himself in Japan catching up on some belated promotion for the band’s Mothership compilation when he appeared to give his clearest indication that a Zeppelin world tour may still be on the cards.
“We did the show and it was great,” stated the guitarist. “I can assure you the amount of work that we put into the O2, for ourselves rehearsing and the staging of it, was probably what you put into a world tour.”
Quizzed further about the possibility of this much-mooted world tour, Page was frank though enigmatic: “Robert Plant also had a parallel project running and he’s really busy with that project, certainly until September,” he explained, referring to Raising Sand, the album that Plant recorded with Alison Krauss and which he is tour. “So I can’t give you any news.”
Despite this reticence to confirm any further details, Page’s comments coincide with Plant making veiled statements suggesting that, once his commitments with Krauss have been honoured, he would be consider a Zep tour, stating “you never know what’s around the corner.”
Bassist John Paul Jones also stated in the wake of the 02 show that the three surviving members and drummer Jason Bonham would “start talking to each other soon” with a view to any future plans.
Jones meanwhile is also set to collaborate with the Foo Fighters at this year’s Grammy awards on February 10 when he will act as musical arranger, conducting an orchestra of unknown musicians who will perform The Pretender with Dave Grohl and co.

It'll be a lot of money to hang with a bunch of old people. Not that I won't pay. But I'm old so Im proving my point.
