Morrissey's Greatest Hits

Morrissey has announced the track listing for his forthcoming Greatest Hits compilation.

The album will be released on CD and double-vinyl on February 11.

Two new songs are included on the collection - forthcoming single That’s How People Grow Up and All You Need Is Me. Both tracks were recorded with You Are The Quarry producer Jerry Finn.

Morrissey
has recently been back in the studio with Finn, busy recording material for his new studio album, due for release in the Autumn.

A special, limited edition run of CDs will feature a Live At The Hollywood Bowl bonus disc, featuring The Last of the Famous International Playboys, The National Front Disco, Let Me Kiss You, Irish Blood, English Heart, I Will See You in Far-off Places, First of the Gang to Die, I Just Want to See the Boy Happy and Life is a Pigsty, all recorded live on June 8, 2007.

Morrissey's Greatest Hits lines up like this:

1. First Of The Gang To Die

2. In The Future When All’s Well

3. I Just Want To See The Boy Happy

4. Irish Blood, English Heart

Some of those early B-sides are among his best work, with or without Smiths

  • Way too much emphasis on the 'You are the Quarry' album. One third of the tracks. It was a great album but maybe there should have been a better balance.

  • What?!!! Nothing from Your Arsenal? And what about "Sing Your Life" from Kill Uncle?
No classic b-sides? Oh well, it is called Greatest "Hits"...so, does that mean just singles? That still wouldn't make sense, because there's no singles from Your Arsenal!
No, I'm sorry. This is NOT Morrissey's Greatest Hits simply because too much vital material has been grossly overlooked. Shame on the fuckers who put this money-scheming, short-sighted comp out for release.
How come no one consulted me on this?

Is this a reissue of a greatest hits package previously released? I think not, therefore, those words do not 'ring' any 'bells'.

  • Given that this is a compilation of highest UK chart placings, where's "Interesting Drug"? That reached number nine.

Yes, Terry. I'm going to praise you for a moment and agree that this release should have been titled "Gayest Shits". My best friend in the world (who is as queer as a three dollar bill--he told me to print that) thinks that this comp can fuck off as well.
I find that humorous and ironic, what do you think?
Gee, I wish Morrissey had something to do with this "release"; hell, maybe he did and he's shortsighted as well.
I'd like to think not, 'cause "Interesting Drug" is one of the finest singles in existence, and this latest,'Greatest' pacakage, is nothing more than a cash-in.
Even recently induced Morrissey fans from 2004 can see through this.

    Honest and Sincerely,
    Matt Edison
