FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1 is the day. BBC2 is the channel. The time is 11.35 – way past our bedtime. The event is the 200th Later… With Jools Holland, kicking off a 31st series with Radiohead (performing Bodysnatchers, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi and 15 Step from their latest album In Rainbows), Dionne Warwick, Mary J Blige, Feist and Robyn Hitchcock.
This week also sees the launch of a 39-track Later… With Jools Holland compilation CD, with selections drawn from the younger end of the long-running show’s eclectic artist pool.
Amy Winehouse, Kasabian, Lily Allen, The White Stripes (featuring Jools himself on Joanna), Muse and Kings Of Leon rub shoulders with King Creosote, Adele, Duffy and Seasick Steve.
25 of the 39 acts on this CD made their TV debut on Later and 13 of the tracks featured are worldwide debuts, including those by Mika, Adele, Duffy, The Fratellis, Seasick Steve and Kate Nash.
Answer our question and you’re in the hat to win one of ten copies of the 2-CD package. And one really lucky winner gets a 4GB silver iPod Nano pre-loaded with the tunes. Get in!
Which of the following Sheffield bands was MOJO-approved Later… star Richard Hawley NOT in?
a) Longpigs
b) Treebound Story
c) Human League
