3 – Elvis Presley's ’68 Comeback Special airs on NBC. It is hailed as a triumphant return for the man that started it all.
5 – The launch of The Rolling Stones’ new album, Beggars Banquet is celebrated at a huge party in the rooms of London's Queensgate Hotel. A proposed band photoshoot descends into a whirlwind food fight.
8 – Graham Nash officially leaves The Hollies and immediately begins working with Stephen Stills and David Crosby on new material.
11/12 - The Rolling Stones decamp to Intertel Studios in Stonebridge Park, North London to film the ill-fated, Rock’n’Roll Circus. John Lennon, Eric Clapton, The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal and Marianne Faithfull all appear throughout the show. Following filming, the Stones feel unhappy with their performances and the movie is shelved for the next 28 years.
21 – Manager Albert Grossman announces that Janis Joplin will split from her band to pursue solo direction.
23 – Apple hosts a Christmas party at 3 Saville Row. John and Yoko dress up as Mr & Mrs Claus.
26 – Led Zeppelin begin their first tour of the US in support of Vanilla Fudge. It becomes quickly evident that they are wiping the US rockers off the stage every night.
28 – The Miami Pop Festival plays host to the likes of Chuck Berry, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, The Turtles, Marvin Gaye, Steppenwolf, Procol Harum, Canned Heat, Iron Butterfly and The Grateful Dead.

I saw Led Zeppelin play at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit the weekend before Thanksgiving '68. It is an often overlooked date in every history of the band I've read. It was a brilliant show.
