Morrissey Bares His Arse

THE MOJO OFFICE is still reeling after opening our CD copy of Morrissey’s Greatest Hits album to find this photograph (left). And just in case there was any doubt as to the ownership of the derrière in question, the sleevenote credits the pic thus: “Morrissey’s arse photographed by Jake Walters”.
Morrissey’s buttocks – curiously hairless in comparison to what’s “going on” above and below – appear to be of a mid-’90s vintage. This would coincide with the known period of his association with Jake Walters, his companion/PA around the time of the Vauxhall & I album. The standard of calligraphy is impressive, but the office is agreed that we wouldn’t have enjoyed doing the apostrophe.
The Mozular bottom joins a veritable pantheon of rock star private bits that have graced record covers. We think particularly of Keith Moon’s Both Sides Of the Moon album, but if you go “round the front” there are other examples. John Lennon was unembarrassed to display his manhood on the cover of the Two Virgins album and Adam Clayton’s “little Adam” can be viewed on the sleeve of U2’s Achtung Baby LP.

Mojo, you've got the wrong Jake. There were two Jakes at that time. One was his PA and one was a photographer. Jake Walters was/is? a photographer.
But way to go slipping in the thinly veiled homo reference. How unique you must feel.

Oh yes it was. Jake Walters has been credited and he's got his own professional website and everything.
He was never Morrissey's PA. That was some other bloke.

Despite the alias "Jake Owen" cropping up once or twice, the "Two Jakes" are in fact one and the same. This has now been proven as video footage and photos including the "PA" Jake (http://youtube.com/watch?v=gpClg8PJMg4) have been matched to the Jake Walters that appears in a group photo of British professional photogs that which can been seen at the National Portrait Gallery.
Solved, end of story.

Many have debated his sexuality for years. I think most people have come to the conclusion he and Jakey Poo had a longstanding love affair. Poor Jakey, where is the poor sot now, probably drunk and in a gutter somewhere. Meanwhile, Morrissey is hot to trot looking for hot Italian love in Rome.
