Seasick Steve will play his biggest show to date in the opulent surroundings of London's Royal Albert Hall on October 1. The blues-brawler will tour Australia in the Spring before returining to the UK to record his follow-up to 2006's Dog House Music .

On February 4, David Lammy will be hosting a Q&A session about the music industry at the House of Commons. A diverse range of 14 to 30 year olds keen to get ahead in the business will be putting questions to a panel made of Guy Holmes (Gut Records), Dave Laub (Darling Artists), Peter Robinson (Popjustice), Fergal Sharkey (The Undertones, Chairman of the BMI) , Mervyn Lyn (SonyBMG), Sandi Thom and Sway. The Q&A takes place between 7 and 9pm. For more, head to www.makeyourmarkinmusic.org.

Hard Days Night Hotel, a new four star boutique hotel in Liverpool, opened its doors for the first time earlier today. The new hotel is set in the heart of the Beatles Quarter, just a stones throw away from the site of the Cavern Club. There are 110 rooms, including luxury and deluxe rooms and two stunning penthouses - the specially designed Lennon & McCartney suites. The Lennon includes a white grand piano. The contents of the McCartney suite haven't been specified, but assuming they continue mining iconography from 1971, then it's quite possible Macca's room will contain a full bushy beard and a large Scottish farm.

Eric Clapton will play a huge open-air show at Harewood House, Yorkshire on June 29. Robert Randolph & The Family Band will provide support. Tickets go on sale on Monday (February 4).

And finally...Happy Birthday Mike Campbell, long-serving guitar slinger with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. And here they are on Top Of The Pops in the summer of '77 with Anything That's Rock 'n' Roll.
