NEWS DIGEST: Monday, February 11

Amy Winehouse has emerged from her latest stint in rehab in victorious fashion, having won five gongs at last night's Grammy Awards. Earlier in the evening, the soul sensation performed at the ceremony via satelite link-up from London - ongoing visa problems meant she was unable to attend the cermony in L.A. Winehouse took home Song Of The Year (Rehab), Record Of The Year (Rehab), Pop Vocal Album, Female Pop Vocal Performance, and Best New Artist.

As everyone knows, there are well over 300 categories to be won at the Grammys, making it one of the longest events in history. Last night's other winners included Kanye West, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, The Chemical Brothers, Mark Ronson, The White Stripes, Herbie Hancock and Mary J Blige. And for the first time in seven years, Tina Turner took the stage to perform a duet with Beyonce Knowles. You can see images from the awards by clicking HERE.

Karen Dalton, the Greenwich Village folk songstress, is to release a new collection of home recordings on April 7. Green Rocky Road arrives hot on the heels of last year's double live album, Cotton Eye Joe.

Eric Burdon & WAR will join forces for the first time in 37 years to play London's Royal Albert Hall on Monday, April 21. The one-off reunion show coincides with a Rhino Records reissue campaign that will see 1970's Eric Burdon Declares WAR and The Black-Man's Burdon hit shelves on March 24. The Best of Eric Burdon & WAR and The WAR Anthology will follow on April 14. Tickets for the gig will go on sale on February 14 and can be obtained from the following outlets. Godspeed You Black Emperor's Efrim Menuck has told DrownedinSound.com that the band have split. Rather cryptically, "an existential freak-out" regarding the Iraq war has been cited as the main reason for the break-up.

And finally...Happy Birthday Gene Vincent! He would have been 73 today. Here he is with Be Bop A Lula in 1958.
