R.E.M have announced a series of UK stadium shows in support of their new LP, Accelerate. A single, Supernatural Superserious, will precede the album which is due for release on March 23.

The Athens' boys play:

Manchester, Lancashire County Cricket Club (August 24)
Cardiff, Millennium Stadium (25)
Southampton, Rosebowl (27)
London, Twickenham Stadium (30)

Tickets go on sale on Friday (February 29)

A swimming pool mosaic designed by John Lennon is to go on show at Liverpool's The Beatles Story in March. The Magic Eye is a 16ft by 6ft artwork which was a feature at Lennon's Surrey estate in the mid-1960s. Beatles fan Tom Lorimer, a lab technician at Liverpool John Moore’s University, has spent six years restoring the piece.

Johnny Marr will join The Cribs for their performance at the 02 Arena later his week. Klaxons, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs and Manic Street Preachers are also all on the bill.
