IN THE WAKE OF this month’s MOJO Interview appearance, Kris Kristofferson tours the UK for the first time in four years during March and April. The country-rock legend – writer of such staples as Sunday Morning Coming Down (voted 1970's Song of the Year by the Country Music Association), Me & Bobby McGee (immortalised by Janis Joplin) and Help Me Make It Through the Night – remains in fighting form as a songwriter, as proven by his latest album, 2006’s excellent This Old Road, which gave George W. Bush a piece of his mind while reflecting poignantly on his life’s journey so far. A timely reminder that before there was Steve Earle, or even Bruce Springsteen, there was Kris Kristofferson.
