Massive Attack, curators of this year's Meltdown Festival, have announced that mighty psyche-progsters, Gong, will be making a rare appearance at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall on June 14. They'll be followed in June 15 by a show from Yellow Magic Orchestra. The Japanese technopop stalwarts last played the UK in 1980. Slash has revealed that the Velvet Revolver will be creating a web site to audition for a replacement for frontman Scott Weiland.
The guitarist told Billboard: "The band is actually talking about building a Web site [and] doing some auditions via that, so that's been something that's developing at this point," saying that it should be happening "in the next month or so."
For the upcoming gig in Las Vegas, friends of the band are set to take turns at the microphone: "I'm not gonna name any names, but a bunch of well-known people will get up and sing some songs, and then also bring up a couple people that we think are pretty good and might sing a couple songs," he says. "So it'd just be for fun."
The Proclaimers just started their US tour. The Scottish twins are playing across the pond in support of their new album, Life With You.
