NEXT WEDNESDAY, April 30, is the time; HMV’s Oxford Circus flagship store is the place. Here’s where MOJO limbers up to launch its 2008 Honours List celebrations, which lavishly conclude on June 16 with a big old awards ceremony.
The HMV fun starts at 12.30 in the pm, when the perma-hatted Son Of Dave cranks up his one-man blues hurricane, soon to be succeeded at 1.30pm by a fierce set from new-old-soul sensation James Hunter. It’s a lunchtime one-two to beat any soup-and-a-sandwich combo you could possibly dream up.
Then there’s a break until six in the evening, when the dapper, MOJO-tipped heir to Lonnie Donegan/Phil Everly’s musical estate, Pete Molinari, performs – followed at 7pm by the mighty Fall, playing songs from their well-received new album, Imperial Wax Solvent.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for a special announcement and gear yourselves to vote on the shortlists that go live here on mojo4music.com the next day, April 31.
Here’s that line-up again…
12.30 Son Of Dave
13.30 James Hunter
18.00 Pete Molinari
19.00 The Fall
