MOJO is delighted to announce that Allen Toussaint, the undisputed musical overlord of Southern r&b and soul, is set to play the MOJO Club on August 4 at The Roundhouse in London. (Tickets cost £27.50)
Over the past half-century Toussaint has been the man behind swathes of classics - Lee Dorsey's Working In A Coalmine, Benny Spellman's Fortune Teller and swinging cuts from the likes of fellow New Orleans' alumni Dr John, The Meters and Irma Thomas. Then, of course, there's his superb work with The Band, Elvis Costello and Paul McCartney.
He's recently been ensconced in Liam Watson's Toe Rag Studios lending his nimble fingers to James Hunter's new LP, The Hard Way, and is now gearing up to hit UK shores later this summer.
So what are you waiting for?
