ONTARIO PROG-PUNKS wreaking artful havoc, F***ed Up have been active since 2002, when they released their first seven-inch of leftist political commentary and avant-hardcore. But with their 2006 LP Hidden World, says MOJO’s Manish Agarwal, they “revitalised hardcore (with) this elaborately artworked epic, intertwining brute-punk bark, esoteric narratives, colourful textures (organ, marimba, harmony vocals) and violin…” Live shows are excitable affairs with sizeable vocalist Pink Eyes frequently beating his own head with the mic; “I have dents in my forehead,” he reveals proudly.
On a recent visit upstairs to MOJO’s Oxford Street eyrie, Pink Eyes (aka Damian) stood transfixed by our cabinet full of vintage Sounds magazines, and tried to persuade us of the merits of an Oi! Special edition, before necking a handful of aspirin (they allow him to bleed more easily onstage) in preparation for that night’s Astoria show, where they stood toe-to-toe with the mighty Gallows and gave as good as they got.
F***ed Up play the following European shows in July…
July 3 / Tap 'n' Tin / Chatham, Kent
July 4 / Zoo Thousand Music Festival / Port Lympne Wild Animal Park / Ashford, Kent
July 5 / Eurockeenes Festival / Belfort, France

Year Of The Pig
An edited version of the 18-minute, solidarity-with-sex-workers original, here’s Ruts-y reggae rocking with bassist Mustard Gas on dulcet vocal form. Then Pink Eyes gristles his way in and causes the whole to speed and roar off.
David Comes To Life
Catchy, sprightly pop-punk sounds depicting a devout believer who concludes that suicide is the best way to avoid further sinning. “What an ingrate,” say F***ed Up.
Baiting The Public
Melodic punk thrash that informs the listener, repeatedly, “You’re f***ing f***ed!” This is nihilism with a spring in its step, though, like an antimatter Undertones.

Fucked Up are currently one of the coolest (and loudest) bands in the universe. New single "Year Of The Pig" showcases incredibly diverse new roadmaps to what these rocking nutters are driving towards.
Just about anything off of their epic "Hidden World" LP is worth multiple listens, but "David Comes To Life" is a rambunctiously prime example of the pure mind and physical rush that Fucked Up provide.
