Good news for fans of distorted noise-pop! Kevin Shields has re-mastered the last two My Bloody Valentine albums, Loveless and Isn’t Anything. Sony BMG plans to release the remasters on June 16, to coincide with MBV’s first live shows in 16 years.
Shields has included sleeve notes to Loveless, explaining how he’s tinkered with the tracks for the remastered version. The albums will be available on CD or 180 gram vinyl.
The reunited My Bloody Valentine are playing in the UK on the following dates:
London, The Roundhouse – June 20/21/22/23
Manchester Apollo – June 28/29
Glasgow Barrowland – July 2/3
A disaster of Biblical proportions struck a recent Radiohead gig in Bristow, Virginia on May 11 when torrential rainstorms flooded roads leading to the Nissan Pavilion, where the concert was being held. Hundreds of fans were left stranded miles from the Pavilion, with many forced to give up on seeing the show at all.
Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood posted a message of condolence on the band’s website, saying: “To everyone who made it, and put up with the torrents on the lawn, and came early to catch the Liars and our show, thank you so much for braving the deluge. We've had floods at Bull Creek, lightning at the RFK stadium, so there must be some kind of Biblical fix between us and DC. Frogs next time?”
Neil Diamond is number one in the US Billboard album chart for the first time in his career. His recently released 29th studio album, Home Before Dark, sold 146,000 copies in its first week of release. His previous highest position was Number 2, with his 1973 soundtrack to Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
Oh, and Dolly Parton is beyond livid with US shock-jock Howard Stern, who yesterday included a segment where her voice was manipulated to express “racist and sexually vulgar comments”. Her full statement follows...
“I have never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated in all my life. I cannot believe what Howard Stern has done to me. In a blue million years, I would never have such vulgar things come out of my mouth. They have done editing or some sort of trickery to make this horrible, horrible thing. Please accept my apology for them and certainly know I had nothing to do with this. If there was ever going to be a lawsuit, it's going to be over this. Just wanted you to know that I am completely devastated by this."
And here’s what Stern put together. Warning: it’s extremely childish.
