Legendary Texas noise warriors, Butthole Surfers, are planning to take to the road with their classic 1980s line-up intact. Four UK shows are set to take place in July. A posting on the band’s official site states: “This is the rhythm section the band had for most of the '80s and marks the first time this line up has played together since 1989.” Here are those UK dates in full:
Glasgow - ABC1 (July 4)
Manchester - Academy 2 (5)
Wolverhampton - Wulfrun Hall (7)
London - Kentish Town Forum (7)
Noel Gallagher has told Radio 2's Russell Brand that Oasis' new, currently untitled studio album is slated for a September release.
Love Story, the new Arthur Lee/Love documentary is to be released on DVD on July 29. The film features interviews with the likes of The Doors’ John Densmore, Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie and Mani, Elektra’s Jac Holzman and most bizarrely, former Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone.
Two post-Forever Changes reissues are also set to appear on June 10. 1969's double album Out Here and the following year's False Start will get the deluxe treatment. The latter opens with the Lee and Jimi Hendrix-penned, The Everlasting First.
Madness are planning a special London show to coincide with the release of their eighth studio album, The Liberty of Norton Folgate. The band have promised “a theatrical show unlike anything that has gone before” as they showcase their new material live for the first time on June 24 at Hackney Empire. They are also due to play shows at Aintree, Sandown Park and Newmarket racecourses this summer and London’s O2 Arena later in the year.
A further 23 acts have been added to the bill for this year's Green Man Festival. Among them are MOJO faves Fuck Buttons, Howlin' Rain and Pete Molinari. For full line-up details, head over to the festival's official site HERE.
And finally...Happy Birthday Pete Townshend! The Who's windmilling guitar hero is 63 today. Here he is in full flight with the classic Who line-up...
