The original handwritten lyrics to John Lennon’s Give Peace a Chance lyrics are to be sold at auction. Lennon gave Gail Renard the lyric sheet in 1969, telling the teenager to hold on to it because, "it will be worth something someday.” Gail plans to sell the paper in July. They are expected to fetch up to £200,000.

Two of Elvis Presley’s closest chums, Lamar Fike and Marty Lacker, have denied recent claims that the singer made a trip to London in 1958. Speaking to the BBC, Mr Fike said that he was with Presley “the whole time” and that he was “confined to [military] base…Had he gone to England, I'd have been there".

A new DVD version of The Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter is set for release on August 12. filmmakers David and Albert Maysles and Charlotte Zwein shot the movie during the band's notorious 1969 US tour which culminated in the disastrous free gig at the Altamont Speedway. The package is set to include an exclusive 40 page plus booklet containing snapshots and essays. The extras include an audio commentary from the filmmakers, a 1969 KSAN Radio Broadcast of Altamont wrap-up (with excerpts from then-DJ Stefan Ponek), backstage Outtakes of the Rolling Stones at Madison Square Gardens in NYC.

And finally...Roger Waters' pig has been found. The huge inflatable animal had been released at the end of the ex-Floyd man's performance at Coachella in California. It landed in tatters on the driveway of two families in La Quinta. Click HERE to see the full pig!

  • I find it amusing that Bon Iver's album is released on May 12 on 4AD- this album's been out on the excellent Jagjaguwar-label since last year. In Oz it has been out since March.
Never mind, as long as he gets his due credit.

How about some reappraisal then for Songs Of Green Pheasant?
