Current chart-topping soul songstress, Duffy has endorsed Jay-Z’s controversial headlining appearance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival: “It hadn't really crossed my mind that his appearance might be a problem," she told festival organisers. "I've seen him live and it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. He had these great string arrangements and was just an amazing showman. It was really fun and you left feeling good. I'm completely excited about seeing him again."

David Cook, the winner of American Idol 2008, is taking on The Beatles to break American chart records tomorrow (May 29) when 11 of his songs debut on the Billboard Hot-100. The former barman will score the most placements on the US chart since fourteen songs by the fabs appeared on the chart in April 1964. Words fail...

Icelandic quartet Sigur Rós will release their new studio album on June 23. According to the band, Me su í eyrum vi spilum endalaust (With a buzz in our ears we play endlessly) is their most joyous collection of songs to date. For the first time on record, the band will sing in English on a track called All Alright.

Morrissey
has split with manager Merck Mercuriadis to join ie:music, the British management firm which looks after Robbie Williams.
