Tina Turner will play four UK shows in 2009.
The dates are set for March next year and will take place at London's 02 Arena (March 3 & 4) and Manchester's MEN Arena (March 30 & 31). The details come hot on the heels of the 68-year old star's announcement that she will play eight cities across the continent shortly after completing her first US tour in eight years. The American jaunt begins in October.
A statement reads: "After performing with Beyoncé at the Grammy awards in Los Angeles, the response was overwhelming. Everywhere I went people were asking me when I was going back on tour. So after a lot of thought and planning we announced an American tour. Now Europe beckons and I don’t want to let down all my loyal fans over there. See you in the New Year."
Tickets are to go on sale next Wednesday (May 28).
France’s first lady, Carla Bruni, will release her third album, Comme si de rien n’était (As if Nothing Had Happened), in July. The album is made up of mainly original material but a version of Dylan’s You Belong to Me is also included. All royalties will be donated to charity.
Courtney Love has reassured fans that her new album has not been scrapped via a statement on her MySpace page: “No scrapping is going on, simply a few retakes, especially since all those recordings were leaked to the Net.” For more click HERE
Tom Waits has revealed details of his role in Terry Gilliam’s new film, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. In a Conversation With Himself posted on the Anti-blog site, Waits says: “I am the Devil in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. Not a devil…The Devil. I don’t know why he thought of me. I was raised in the church. Gilliam and I met on Fisher King. He is a giant among men and I am in awe of his films.” You can see the full post, by clicking HERE
