Tom Waits is returning to the UK...for a few days.
The jazz-loving king of avant-Americana will play just two concerts at Edinburgh’s Playhouse (his first in the Scottish capital since 1987) on the 27th and 28th of July.
These will be his only appearances in the UK.
Joined by long-time musical ally, Larry Taylor and a full backing band, Waits has promised a groundbreaking show full of hollers, mambos and rhumbas.
“They play with racecar precision and they are all true conjurers," he says. "I'm doing songs with them I've never attempted outside the studio. They are all multi-instrumentalists and they polka like real men.”
Tickets for the European leg of his Glitter & Doom tour go on sale at 9.00 am on Tuesday, May 27.
The full dates currently look like this:
SAN SEBASTIAN, SPAIN – Auditorium Kursaal (July 12)
BARCELONA, SPAIN – Auditorium Forum (14, 15)
MILAN, ITALY – Teatro Degli Arcimboldi (17, 18, 19)
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC – KCP (21, 22)
PARIS, FRANCE – Grand Rex (24, 25)
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND – Playhouse (27, 28)

RE: Hilary
Probably nothing. Last time he toured he played England but not Scotland maybe he's just trying to balance things up. At least he's bothering to come here unlike some people who are happy enough for their cds to be sold in the shops but won't come north (yes I mean you Bruce Springsteen).
