The Rolling Stones are in negotiations with gig promoter Live Nation to sign a landmark new deal. If confirmed, the deal would see Live Nation market the band’s back catalogue sales, as well as future tours. The deal would be the final nail in the coffin for the band’s relationship with current label EMI, which is already suffering, having recently lost Paul McCartney and Radiohead.

But it’s not all bad news for EMI. The great British album buyer has emphatically expressed approval of Coldplay’s fourth album, Viva La Vida, released via EMI on Thursday. The record looks set to become one of the fastest-selling albums of all time, shooting straight to the top of the album charts despite it only being on sale for three days. It’s sold 302,000 copies to date, and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down yet. You can read MOJO's review of Viva La Vida in the July issue of the magazine - on sale now!

Torrential rain on a Biblical scale failed to stop Paul McCartney rocking the Ukraine for two and a half hours at a free concert in Kiev. The historic gig, the biggest ever put on in the Ukraine, was shown on five giant screens in cities across the country. Appalling weather delayed the show by half an hour, and rain continued to soak the 350,000-strong crowd for much of the show. Here’s a clip of Macca storming through an oh-so-appropriate rendition of Back In The USSR at the gig.

And finally...The MOJO Honours List is only hours away. Stay tuned all this week for video interviews, pictures and exclusive news from the best celebration of music on the planet!
