Track: Julia
Artist: A Girl Called Eddy
MOJO says: Described by ex-Raspberries frontman and eternal Beatles devotee Eric Carmen as possessing “one of the flat out coolest voices I’ve heard”, Erin Moran (aka Eddy) brings Disc One of The White Album Recovered to a celestial end with her soothing take on Lennon’s ode to his mother whose death when he was 17 so scarred him. It is a fitting final bow. Standy by for Disc Two…

lovely voice - i think lennon would have liked this version
i think getting new artistes to cover these songs is an interesting and brave concept in itself
whilst some have got it terribly wrong - some have got it terribly right
julia fowles
proably gets the award for an all over simple but charming version of blackbird

Of the entire album this month, my two standout tracks are "Blackbird" and "Julia."
As everybody else put it, this track is stunning (to say the least). I also kind of like the Japanese garden vibe of the background voices and chimes at the end. (Ocean child?)
This track is truly dreamlike, as if I were entering an easy sleep after the restlessness of the other parts of the album.
And with that, I really have nothing else to say about Part I. At least, nothing constructive.
See you in a few weeks, folks! ^_^
