Track: Blackbird

Artist: Julie Fowlis

MOJO says: While everyone from Crosby, Stills & Nash to the Grateful Dead have covered Paul McCartney’s ode to hope, none to MOJO’s knowledge have reinterpreted it in Gaelic. Until now. Julie Fowlis – the winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer Of The Year award – delivers this effervescent version that pays homage to the song’s Scottish origins.

  • I said this on "Back in the USSR," but I'd consider this the glimmering jewel in this month's disc.

  • One word: beautiful.
I just sat on the rug and stared at the CD set and realized I was weeping.

re: the 'weeping' comment. it's strange, but a similar response from me also ... how can a song do such? maybe, just as already simply expressed by the person; "one word: beautiful," tells it for what it is.

  • Posted on There are aobirec and anaobirec cardio exercises, the article is titled Cardio is Bunk, because most people associate cardio with aobirec exercises. Swimming is an anaobirec cardio exercise, it strengthens your heart and lungs more than it does your muscles, not that it doesnt tone the hell out of them either, but when you swim you increase your bodys consumption of oxygen while massively limiting its oxygen intake.
