Oasis will receive the lifetime achievement award at the annual Silver Clef Awards later today. Previous recipients of the award include Paul Weller and U2. The awards raise money for music therapy charity Nordoff-Robbins.

In other Gallagher-related news, the band's former label boss, Alan McGee has told XFM that upcoming artists should shun record companies. "I'd recommend a band not to go to any record label, I think they're all fucking rubbish," he said. "You're better off doing it yourself. They're living in the past, it's like owning a tram company or something."

Brett Anderson will be premiering his new album, Wilderness, at the Mermaid Theatre on July 7. Everyone who buys a ticket will receive a a copy of the record on a USB stick. For more, click HERE.
