Paul McCartney will reportedly play his first gig in Tel Aviv on September 8.

The Beatles were denied permission to tour Israel in 1965, following claims the band would corrupt the country’s morals. The ban stayed in force until earlier this year.

The Sun reports that both Paul and Ringo have received letters of apology, saying. “We should like to take this opportunity to correct the historic omission which to our great regret occurred in 1965 when you were invited to Israel. We missed a chance to learn from the most influential musicians of the decade.”

Macca’s advisors are now said to be hammering out plans to play an open-air gig at either Ramat Gan football stadium or Hayarkon Park before he jets off to tour Western Europe.

  • Ron Asheton has to be over 50. Was he TWELVE when he played with Iggy? Come on!
