British Sea Power's inaugural Sing Ye From The Hillside! festival will take place at The Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in Britain. The Tan Hill Inn, set 1,732 feet above sea level, high up in the Yorkshire Dales, is renowned for its breathtaking views and amiable ducks, dogs, cats. There is also a bar sheep named Tanny.
Sing Ye From The Hillside! will be hosted by the band and will run between August 29 and 31. Tickets cost £50 and are available from www.ticketline.co.uk.
BSP have also been invited by local brewers, Dent, to create their own BSP beer. It will be available on tap throughout the weekend and Tan Hill will be donating all profits from the ale to charity. BSP guitarist Noble says: "Where else in the world can you get to play to a few ducks and a sheep? The last time we played Tan Hill it was unforgettable. This time we're there for three days. God knows what will happen.”
Kings Of Leon, fresh from their headline appearance at Glastonbury, have announced they will play a one-off show at London's Brixton Academy on August 14 - the day before they once again hit the festival circuit with two performances at V.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow (July 4) at 9am. A maximum of two tickets will be allocated per person.
The Southern rockers' fourth album, Only By The Night, is scheduled for release in September.
Ian Curtis' gravestone has been stolen. The former Joy Division man's memorial was taken from its place at a Macclesfield cemetary at some point between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
