Track: Helter Skelter

Artist: Derwood Andrews

MOJO says: "So how do you cover McCartney’s proto-punk hell-ride? Easy, you get a punk rocker to turn his hand to it. Hence, former Generation X guitarist Derwood Andrews delivers with high-octane, loose-twanging version of the White Album’s most controversial track. Andrews forthcoming solo album, Tone Poet, is also set to be accompanied by an autobiographical tome, Loud Guitarist, which will emerge presumably when he gets around to finishing it."

  • Wow wee!
    This guy's a friggin' genius...
I'm gonna buy all his stuff right now, I heard he needs new teeth.
Paul Weller's track is a big yawn.
Why do you like this guy so much Mojo?

  • Well, Der...in my multitude of four second clips that I'm getting via dial-up (because I'm lame), your Helter Skelter is GREAT!!!! [I liked Pat Benatar's vsrsion of the song compared to the Beatles...but I'm an 80s girl!!! Your version adds a new twist to it.]

    LOVE you guys.

  • Well, for some reason my comment posted 3x. I'm blaming dial up!!! But I wanted to add that your version is a little more haunting than the original.

  • Oh I like this one! Love the country-ish twang of it all. I always like when a cover song gets a new sound but the song is still recognizable. This is my favorite song on Disk 2.
