Josh Homme, Queens Of The Stone Age towering frontman, is to produce a selection of new material by Arctic Monkeys.

Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Homme revealed: "We're going do some tracks and I'm really looking forward to it because I like them a lot. They're a talented bunch of guys, it's going to be a lot of fun".

"Being Arctic Monkeys, the polar opposite would be Desert Monkeys so they're going to come out and just experience that and their idea is to submerge themselves in something else and do some tracks," he added.

The band, who shared a stage with QOTSA in the US last year, are set to work with Homme in his Rancho De La Luna studios situated in that fabled outpost of rock history, Joshua Tree.

Randy Newman will play London's Royal Festival Hall on November 19. It will be the L.A. songsmith's first show in the capital for five years.

His new album, Harps and Angels, is out now.

Ticket go on sale on Saturday (August 29).

Very sad news from the other side of the pond. Andre Romelle Young Jr, the son of hip-hop guru Dr Dre, has died at the age of 20.

A statement from the Dre camp stated: "Dr Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time."

Young's mother was unable to rouse her son when she found him in bed at 10:30am on Saturday morning. It's understood that he had arrived home from a night out with friends at 5:30am. Paramedics pronounced Young dead at the scene.

Oscar-winning director Ang Lee is set to make a movie based on the creation of the Woodstock Festval in August 1969. Taking Woodstock is set for release next summer. Rolling Stone has been talking to producer James Schamus.
