CELEBRATING THE RELEASE of the Live At Shea Stadium CD and the Revolution Rock DVD, the nice people Sony have a cornucopia of Clash swag to disburse. The winner of this largesse pockets all the studio albums (The Clash, Give ‘Em Enough Rope, London Calling, Sandinista!, Combat Rock, Cut The Crap) two live albums (Live At Shea Stadium and From Here To Eternity: Live), plus the On Broadway and Super Black Market Clash compilations. All topped off with a shiny new copy of the Revolution Rock DVD.
Nine runners-up walk away with copies of the Live At Shea Stadium CD, which unlucky non-competition-winners can purchase from all good retailers from October 6. And if you get it from iTunes, they’ll even throw in something called a “video bundle”.
The recording captures the second night (13th Oct 1982) of the The Clash’s stint opening for The Who at the legendary venue, and was produced by Rolling Stones and Combat Rock producer Glyn Johns. Despite being the support act, the New York Post reported “there were as many Clash fans on those nights as Who fans”. One of the few remaining unreleased Clash treasures, the recordings have long been sought after by fans. The tapes were unearthed by the late Joe Strummer whilst packing for a move.
To be in with a shout of winning all this great stuff, mail us before October 13 with the correct answer to the following question…
Clash drummer Topper Headon was sacked before the ’82 US tour. Who replaced him?
a. Don Letts
b. Terry Chimes
c. Kenny Jones
Don’t forget to include contact details and postal address.
