Levi Stubbs, The Four Tops' lead singer and long-serving member of the Motown family, has died at the age of 72. It is reported he passed away in his sleep at his Detroit home following a lengthy illness.

Having signed to Motown in 1963, The Four Tops went on to cement their place within the pantheon of soul and r&b greats, achieving huge chart success with Stubbs' baritone vocals leading the way through the likes of Reach Out I'll Be There and I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch).

He is survived by his wife Clineice, five children and 11 grandchildren.

A full obituary will follow shortly.

Coldplay's Chris Martin has told Radio 1 that the band are in talks to play a gigantic gig at 125,000-capacity Knebworth House next summer.

"We're trying to book a place that rhymes with Blebworth," said the singer. "We realised there's a lot of people who don't like us in Britain but, you know, they don't have to come. We're not gonna do three [nights], Robbie [Williams] did three. We'd be happy with one. Then the next day can be some kind of caravan conference."

Over the last 30 years, the grounds of the estate have played host to some of rock's biggest names, including Queen, Oasis, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin.

UK hip-hop's leading lights, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip have announced details of a new UK library tour.

The pair will play:

Walsall Library (December 5)
Lancaster Library (6);
Burnley Library (7)
Skelmersdale Library (10)
Poole Library (11)
Essex, Gray’s Thurrock Library (13)
London, British Library (14)

And finally...Happy Birthday Tom Petty! The Heartbreaker's head honcho is 55 today. Here he is on Top Of The Pops in 1975...
