"If you tried to give rock and roll another name, you might call it Chuck Berry,” once said super fan John Lennon. Now, some five decades since the sound of his guitar kickstarted an entire generation of players, rock 'n' roll is coming to London, as Chuck Berry lines up to play two intimate shows at the Jazz Cafe next month.
The 82-year old rock 'n' roll legend will appear on November 17 and 18. Tickets are £53 (+booking fee) and are available now from www.seetickets.com / 0870 060 3777.
Oasis have announced details of a huge summer gig at Slane Castle in Ireland. Over the last 27 years The Boyne Valley estate has played host to some of rock's biggest acts, including The Rolling Stones, Queen, Bruce Springsteen and David Bowie.
Due to take place on Saturday, June 20, 2009, the gig may prove to be one of the band's biggest, with a potential audience of more than 80,000. This won't be Oasis' first time playing the heralded Irish amphitheatre - they supported R.E.M at Slane in 1995 - but it will be their first headlining performance at the castle. Although it seems Noel Gallagher can't quite remember all the details of their previous appearance. "I thought we played here on our own," he revealed at a press conference earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Oasis new album, Dig Out Your Soul, currently sits at number 5 in the US album charts - their highest charting entry since Be Here Now hit number 2 in 1997.
Sad news from the world of Jazz. Neil Hefti, the US trumpeter, composer and arranger, has died at the age of 85. Famed for his work with Count Basie and Woody Herman in the 1940s, Hefti also worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Harry James, Mel Tormé, Doris Day and Tony Bennett. His most renowed Jazz compositions, Splanky, Little Pony and Li'l Darlin', were followed in 1960s by a string of television and film scores, including the themes for Batman and The Odd Couple. He is survived by his son, brother, sister and three grandchildren.
And finally...Happy Birthday Nico! The German chanteuse would have been 70 today. Here's some fairly terrifying footage of her singing Lou Reed's All Tomorrow's Parties.
