The artist formerly known as “Simply Red” went back to his roots in 2008
“I’ve had a think about it and I’ve chosen Go Now by The Moody Blues. I did a small tour this summer in support of my Bobby Bland tribute album and my guitar player and I were always at the back of the bus playing music. I just got a fixation on this tune and kept playing it over and over. I love the drama, the sentiment. It’s one of the great ‘60s anthems. I later casually mentioned it to Andy Wright, my producer, and he said ‘let’s do it’, so we went ahead and recorded a version. I didn’t think about it beforehand, but once we’d completed it, it suddenly dawned on me that I’d already announced the last Simply Red tour in 2010. The song just fits in really well!”
