Jack Bruce had a few words to say about his old rock competitors Led Zeppelin at the Classic Rock Awards on Monday. Speaking to the assembled press, the Cream bass-slinger reportedly said: “Fuck off Zeppelin, you’re crap. Everybody talks about Led Zeppelin, and they played one fucking gig – one fucking lame gig – while Cream did weeks of gigs.”
Bruce was apparently angry to have been robbed of the headline spot at the Ahmet Ertugen tribute concert at the end of next year, later reasoning: “It’s a bit of jealousy on my part…[their] audience was created by Cream and Jimi Hendrix. Then Led Zeppelin came along and had a very easy ride. We were pioneers and pioneers don’t always get the recognition they deserve.”

Damon Albarn has hinted at the possibility of a Blur reunion after recently meeting with the band's guitarist Graham Coxon. Speaking to the BBC’s Newsbeat, Albarn said: “It’s very possible I’ll go back to Blur, it really is very possible.”
Albarn, a man who has had fingers in several musical pies over the last five years (The Good The Bad And The Queen, Gorillaz, Africa Express, Monkey) said of his old band mate: “He’s great, it’s fantastic to get my old friend back. So it’s good...but I can’t really say anymore than that.”

Johnny Marr has offered a damning assessment of the US and UK music industries. Speaking at Salford University, the current visiting Professor Of Music said: “[the British music industry] never invented anything, although it has done plenty of good things, like good records. But nothing has ever been created of value by the British or American music industries.” Stayed tuned to www.jmarr.com for a full transcript of Johnny's inaugural lecture.
