Coldplay are being sued by Joe Satriani for allegedly plagiarising one of his riffs in their hit song Viva La Vida.
The 52-year-old rock guitarist is seeking damages for the band’s use of “substantial original portions” of his 2004 instrumental If I Could Fly.
The controversy arrives just as Chris Martin et al prepare for what could be a huge haul of awards at next year's Grammys. The band have been nominated in seven different categories. They'll be up against fellow Brits MIA, Leona Lewis, Adele and Robert Plant for the honour of best album at the US ceremony in 2009.

A Scorpions Wikipedia article has been blocked by UK internet providers over concerns that one of the group’s album covers qualifies as child pornography.
The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) flagged the cover for the German band’s 1976 release Virgin Killer as a "potentially illegal child sexual abuse image".
According to the BBC, as many as 95% of British internet users would now be unable to access the page, angering several Wikipedia editors who have also had their accounts blocked.

Boy George faces a possible jail term after being found guilty of falsely imprisoning a male escort in his east London flat.
Norwegian Audun Carlsen, 29, claimed he was chained to a wall in the singer’s Shoreditch home last April after being accused of tampering with the singer's laptop.
The former Culture Club man - who was tried under his real name, George O'Dowd - handcuffed Carlsen while accusing him of trying to remove photos the pair shot together when they first met three months earlier.
Carlsen told the court he managed to free himself and escaped in his underwear as O’Dowd whipped him with a metal chain.
Boy George is due to be sentenced on January 16.

Maybe as it's 50th anniversary, they could get Jet Harris on bass!

There are too many bands ripping thigns off recently. Soulsavers' "Revival" was undoubtably a "knock"off of Dylan's "Knockin On Heaven's Door," and I sometimes like to call Bigelf's "Money It's Pure Evil" Dark Side-era Pink Floyd with John Lennon on piano and vocals. I mean, c'mon, it sounds just like "Brain Damage/Eclipse."
