Episode 1: A star-studded amputee dwarf orgy!

Having just finished the first of two Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds shows at the Palace in Melbourne, Australia, I had come back to our hotel and was picking up my e-mails when I received the message requesting that I do a blog for this tour.

Now this is exactly what I hate about all the musician blogs I've read: they're usually replete with banal behind-the-scenes trivia that barely passes for interesting. Did you really need to know that I picked up my e-mail after a show? I can't see how such details enhance our mystique, nor can it be very edifying for the reader.

But I guess I'm setting the scene by sharing with you the boring thing I did after the show and all my innermost excruciating thoughts and feelings about it, only to uplift you later with fascinating insights, thrilling factoids and colourful anecdotal material otherwise unavailable except to those within the inner circle of the Bad Seeds nexus. Intersperse all that with the occasional strategic name-dropping and I suppose this won't read all that differently from your average sensitive-artist-on-the-road kind of blog.

Personally I'd be more interested in all the gory details of who contracted anal gonorrhoea from whom at the star-studded amputee dwarf orgy party thrown by so-and-so cultural attachée to unnamed country X. But I skipped the first night Melbourne aftershow.
