MOJO Readers Poll 2008: The Results!

THE VOTES ARE IN and, in a rare display of sonic solidarity, you the MOJO readers and we the MOJO writers (and to be fair, loads of other people too) are in agreement. Fleet Foxes' self-titled debut album was top of your heap in 2008, raised to a lofty critical pedestal from which the various Nick Caves, Paul Wellers, Elbows and Oases that populate the "lower" echelons must appear as pygmies.

The Seattle act's eldritch harmonies and timeless songs made Fleet Foxes an overwhelming hit amongst aficionados on both sides of the Atlantic, so much so that MOJO readers also voted the band "Best Act" of the year.

Bon Iver, Portishead and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds also ranked highly in the Best Albums poll. Elsewhere, the late Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue and Bob Dylan's Telltale Signs figured in the Best Reissue stakes while the release of Guns N'Roses' Chinese Democracy album trounced all-comers in the annual bile-fest that is the Non-Event Of The Year category.

And the winner of our Readers Poll draw is Nick Black, who wins one year's subscription to MOJO magazine.
