Ryan Adams has announced that he is to take a lengthy break from music.
Posting on his www.cardinology.com blog, the americana star said that he will leave the band he started in 2004 at the end of their current tour (due to finish in Atlanta on March 20).
"Atlanta will be my last venture with the band," he wrote. "I am grateful for the time we have had and maybe someday we will have more stories to tell together. I am, however, ready for quieter times. Maybe we will play again sometime and maybe I will work my way back into some kind of music situation but this is the time for me to step back now.”

Jeff Beck will be inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame later this year.
The iconic guitarist will join an exclusive list of artists who have entered the Hall of Fame twice. Beck was first inducted in 1992 as a member of The Yardbirds.
His axe-wielding chumEric Clapton is the only musician to have been inducted three times – with the Yardbirds, Cream and as a solo artist.
Bobby Womack will also be making his way into the Hall Of Fame. “This is just the greatest, I’m extremely happy," said the soul star and Cleveland native. "My very first thought was - I wish I could call Sam Cooke and share this moment with him. This is just about as exciting to me as being able to see Barack Obama become the first Black President of the United States of America! It proves that, if you’re blessed to be able to wait on what’s important to you, a lot of things will change in life. Being able to work, perform and make people happy is where it’s at."
On February 17, Womack's classic albums The Poet I & II, will be released in a special one disc edition. A comprehensive Bobby Womack Retrospective will also appear later this year.

Gary Kurfirst, the manager of acts such as the Ramones, Talking Heads, The Eurythmics and B52s, passed away on Tuesday aged 60. Kurfirst was responsible for the New York debuts of many legendary artists including like Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Who, Janis Joplin and the Yardbirds.
Talking Heads’ Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth have released a joint statement: “Gary Kurfirst has been our manager since 1977. He never failed to take care of business for us. He protected us. He allowed Talking Heads to be Talking Heads while he took the blows that the music business dealt us. Gary truly was the fifth Talking Head. We were very close friends and we will miss him terribly.”

Oh to be rich enough that I could buy a dozen albums even though "they might be shite but there could be one good song on there".

What I find astonishing about Noel's purchases is the fact that US record shops are obviously still packaging CD's in those long plastic display cases. I remember seeing them in Tower in London when it first opened back in the day, and I thought they had long since been consigned to the grave as a major example of excess unnecessary packaging. Some people obviously never learn...
Some good stuff there however; Can, T. Rex and Hawkwind. Can't go wrong with those!

RE: Simon F- That is not the old style packaging you are looking at. That is the security case the cd is enclosed in, so that it won't get stolen. They take that off after you buy the cd. We got rid of the old packaging in the early 90's. Thanks.

RE: lee
Thanks for that Lee. I could'nt get any sound when I watched the video first time around and it was pretty dodgy second time around but I did manage to catch Noel saying that he not bought the CD's yet. Still $22.98 seems a bit much for 'The Slider', What's that in UK money?
