Episode 15. Proliferation Of Vermin!
January 20th, Tuesday, Perth, Belvoir Amphitheatre
2:00am
The newspapers report that this has been a good summer for the proliferation of Australian vermin, and the insect variety seem well represented at this otherwise lovely outdoor venue, the Belvoir Amphitheatre. About an hour outside of Perth, you pass right through the heart of Western Australian wine country to get here, but there’s no time for winery tours. It’s a busy day what with soundchecks, barbecues, long drives and longer farewells.
This is to be Mick Harvey’s last gig with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and while not a teary affair it does prompt me to reflect somewhat sentimentally on the extensive history of our band.
The gig itself is decent, certainly not our best of the tour, but respectable enough, followed by a whole lot of drinking, chatting and unrestrained cake consumption. I give Mick a farewell hug, and dash off for the airport; I have a 2:55am flight back to London by way of Singapore and I’m hoping to catch a few seconds of the Obama inauguration on the airport bar TV.
This is my last entry for the tour blog. I hope you have found it both enjoyable and edifying, if somewhat rambling and verbose. My heartfelt thanks to our last minute crew enlistee Sarah Flynn for the evocative snapshots that accompany this blog, my stalwart drum tech Mr. Des Evlis, and all the many hard-working folks connected to both the Bad Seeds organization and ATP.
Jim Sclavunos, drummer

You guy should have Jim Sclavunos write for your magazine or just more tour blogs

100% with Duck.
And he would be perfect to write something about Lux Interior as he played with the Cramps for some time.

Thank god I found the rest of Jim Sclavunos's Bad Seeds Tour Diary for a while I couldn't. This was a wicked show good and to see Mick's last gig with the Bad Seeds too. I'm will Bilbao too because The Cramp story would be great.
