U2 have announced the first details of their 2009 stadium tour.
The band currently occupy the UK Number 1 spot with their 12th studio album, No Line On The Horizon. They will kick off the 360° trek (check out the mammoth stage design here) on June 30 at Barcelona's enormous Nou Camp. It will be U2's first major tour since the Vertigo world jaunt in 2005/6.
Manager Paul McGuinness revealed: "U2 has always been at their best when surrounded by their audience, this staging takes a giant leap forward. With 85 percent of the tickets priced at less than 95 Euro, general admission floor tickets priced at 55 Euro and at least 10,000 tickets at every venue priced at around 30 Euro, we have worked very hard to ensure that U2 fans can purchase a great priced ticket with a guaranteed great view."

Am I the only one to find U2 abysmally boring? Album after album, it all sounds like the same washed-out, swirling, ethereal pap. They've become the modern equivalent of Perry Como. Please retire! Bono! Help Obama solve all the world's problems instead! You're not as fun to watch mummifying as the Stones are!

Agreed, Bono can make ordering a cup of coffee sound like the most important, earth-shattering event ever. They are done as a relevant band but I like hearing the older stuff.

Yes, some people wish they were "done", but U2 are far from done. Their new album is amazing. Show me the band that can still make such great and exciting music at that stage of their carreer. They go for the challenges and they always try out new stuff and experiment with sound. The tour will be a huge success, first shows are sold out already. Amazing live band, I cannot wait to see them again. Their new album is a true beauty.
