Divorce porn, marital roadkill and a mysterious cowboy...
No matter how often you hear this, it still starts as shockingly, as if already halfway through. From there it is unto the breach, into a boiling crisis, with the song's narrator lashed by turmoil ("I haven't known peace and quiet for so long I can't remember what it's like!"), hounded by press and betrayed by women, haunted by self-hatred. It's Dylan's most intense song, and his most addictive. And what a tune!
