The Jacksons

...NEXT

Destiny
(Epic, 1978)

As soon as they signed to Epic and set to work at Sigma Sound with the Philadelphia International crew, The Jacksons musically came of age. After The Jacksons (1976), with Enjoy Yourself and Show You The Way To Go, and the less successful Goin' Places (1977), the group took over the reins and wrote and produced all eight tracks. It is in all but name the blueprint for Jacko's next solo work, with dancers (Blame It On The Boogie, Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground), All Night Dancin') and mid-tempo ballads (Push Me Away, That's What You Get (For Being Polite)). The follow-up, Triumph, though not as solid, will be the last remotely good group album. Victory (1984) was poor, 2300 Jackson Street (1989) was even worse.
