Procol Harum organist Matthew Fisher has won his long legal battle to be recognised as co-writer of the band's 1967 psychedelic masterpiece A Whiter Shade of Pale.
Fisher has long claimed that he was responsible for the song's organ melody and therefore deserves a share of the royalties. Yesterday, a panel of five Law Lords reinstated the 2006 High Court verdict that gave Fisher 40% of the copyright.
Insisting that the case was "was never about money", Fisher added, "there will not be a lot of that anyway. But this was about making sure everyone knew about my part in the authorship".

Paul McCartney may be preparing for his final tour, due to begin in 2010.
According to The Sun, Macca is beginning negotiations to play a series of massive concerts across the world. China's Tiananmen Square and Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin are rumoured to be among the locations under consideration.
A source told the paper: "Paul wants to go out with a bang. He's played countless stadiums over his 50-year career and is on the hunt for the most unusual locations he can find. He realises that the older he gets, the less his body will be able to cope with the demands of extended periods on the road. He might play the odd benefit gig - but other than that he'll be putting his feet up and enjoying retirement. The tour in 2010 is likely to last well over a year, by which time he will be almost 70."
