THE GREEN MAN FESTIVAL is always reliably stuffed with MOJO-type acts (and to be frank, MOJO staffers, chasing that elusive cider rush/flyaway gazebo). And with the dates - August 21-23 - almost upon us, the organisers are happy to offer MOJO readers a chance to attend.
You'll be joining We Aeronauts, the band chosen via the unique Green Poll system to open the event. The beneficiary of 90,000 online votes in the early rounds of the selection process, the competition climaxed last night at The Monarch in Camden, where industry mavens including Bella Union's Simon Raymonde picked the self-styled "folky shoegaze" unit from the 6-strong shortlist.
The Oxonian 8-piece will be the first act to play the main stage on the Friday, warming the crown for 6 Day Riot. Topping a deep-pile bill are Animal Collective (Fri), Jarvis Cocker (Sat) and Wilco (Sun), ably supported by MOJO favourites including Bon Iver, British Sea Power, The Phantom Band, Rodriguez, Hawkwind and Vetiver, while the literature stage features not one but two MOJO writers: the legendary Jon Savage and the working-on-well-known Will Hodgkinson.
To be in with a chance of winning one of three available pairs of weekend tickets, email us at Editor@mojo4music.com with the correct answer to the following question. The name of Animal Collective's latest album, is it...?
a) The Quintessential Dugong Report
b) Merriweather Post Pavilion
c) Mandrake Banana Wagon
Get your entry in by Monday August 3 and don't forget to include real name, contact details and postal address.
