Slits: New Album + European Tour!

The Slits will tour the UK and Europe in support of their new album, Trapped Animal (released October 5).

The current line-up of the band features original members Ari Up and Tessa Pollitt alongside Hollie Cook (daughter of Sex Pistols' drummer Paul), Anna Schlute and Adele Wilson.

Their classic dub-punk debut, Cut, was released in 1979.

Gil Scott-Heron will release his new album, I'm New Here, in early 2010.

The record is his first studio set since 1997. The tracks were recorded over the last 18 months in New York.

The Zombies, British psychedelic legends and recipients of this year's MOJO Classic Album Award, will tour the UK next month.

The architects of Odessey and Oracle will play 18 dates across the country in October, including two nights at London's Jazz Cafe:

Graham Coxon's Power Acoustic Ensemble will play three UK shows in November.

Inspired by the songs on Coxon's most recent, folk-orientated album, The Spinning Top, the new group will be joined by Robyn Hitchcock in Manchester and Edinburgh.

At their London Barbican show Martin Carthy, Natasha Marsh and Max Eastley will also make guest appearances.

Slayer have announced details of their upcoming UK tour.

The metal legends' new album, World Painted Blood, is set for release on November 2.

The following venues are set to welcome Californian foursome:

Nottingham, Rock City (November 18)
Birmingham, Academy (19)
Manchester, Academy (20)
Glasgow, Barrowlands (22)
Leeds, Academy (23)
London, The Forum (25)
London, The Forum (26)

Smokey Robinson, Dizzee Rascal and Doves will headline this year's BBC Electric Proms.

Robinson will appear with the BBC Concert Orchestra, while Dizzee Rascal will perform with Young Punx and a string section made up of instrumentalists from the Heritage Orchestra. Doves will take the stage with the London Bulgarian Choir.

The annual festival takes place between October 20 and 24 at London's Roundhouse and is also set to feature performances from Florence And The Machine and Metronomy.

More acts are expected to be announced over the next few weeks.

Tickets go on sale at 8am tomorrow (September 16).
