The Stooges will reunite with Raw Power guitarist James Williamson in 2010.
Ron Asheton, the band's original guitarist, died in January, but Iggy Pop and Ron's brother Scott have now announced that the Raw Power line-up will play the All Tomorrow's Parties event on May 2/3.
"If I wanted to play guitar again...I figured, 'What the hell, let's do it!'" Williamson told Rolling Stone. "We're rehearsing songs from Raw Power, The Stooges, Fun House and Kill City," explained Williamson. "By the end we were sounding pretty great."
The band are set to resume rehearsals on September 20.
It will be Williamson's first Stooges show since 1974.
Speech Debelle, the 26-year old hip-hop starlet, scooped the 2009 Mercury Music Prize last night at a ceremony in London.
Her debut album, Speech Therapy, beat competition from the likes of Kasabian, La Roux, Florence And The Machine and Bat For Lashes.
"I feel so good, it feels better than I imagined," said the South Londoner as she accepted the £20,000 award. "If you believe in something and you think you can do it, you can. Ms Dynamite [2002's winner] was an inspiration for me," she added. "Seeing her win the award made it a reality for me. She looks like me, she talks like me, and made me think, oh, maybe I can do that."
To date, Speech Therapy has sold fewer than 3,000 copies. This is all likely to change dramatically following the event's of last night.
The Horrors, those other Mercury Prize nominees, will tour the UK in December.
The dark psychedelicists will release a new single, Whole New Way, on October 19.
The band play:
Nottingham Rescue Rooms (December 3)
Oxford Academy 2 (4)
Bristol O2 Academy 2 (6)
Liverpool O2 Academy 2 (13)
Sheffield O2 Academy 2 (16)
Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms (17)
