An intriguing new series charting the rise and rise of Latin American music will be aired on BBC FOUR at the end of January next year.
Split over four episodes, Latin Music USA, will collectively capture the most important moments and figures in the vibrant history of Latin American music.
East Side Story will trace the introduction of Afro-Cuban music in urban jazz clubs; Salsa is set to follow the sudden boom of hot and sexy steps in dance halls across the U.S.; Borderlands will document the musical impact of Mexican immigration in the '70s, while The Latin Explosion will reveal how these intoxicating sounds crossed over into the mainstream.
The series is set to contain footage and songs from some of the best and biggest names in Latin American music, including Dizzy Gillespie, Carlos Santana, Tito Puente, Los Lobos and many, many more.
