The legendary Wanda Jackson is to record a new album with Jack White.
Jackson, 72, told the Oklahoman that she is to travel to White's hometown of Nashville to begin work on a new record. "[He's] one of the biggest stars on the planet right now," she told the paper.
Of course, this isn't the first time that White has entered the studio with a country legend. In 2004, he collaborated with Loretta Lynn on her comeback LP, Van Lear Rose - an album that gave Lynn her highest US chart placing ever.
"They had a super album, but he didn't have her do anything different," said new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Jackson. "She just did her little Loretta Lynn songs. But he told me he's gonna stretch me some."
Jackson began recording for Decca in 1954, releasing a clutch of singles with country mainstay Hank Thompson, before going on to share bills with the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and one-time date Elvis Presley.
Her last album, Heart Of Trouble, featured the likes of the Cramps and Elvis Costello and was released in 2003.
